Performance Data — HPPS 2.0 Real-World Results
HPPS is a community-driven project bringing a bespoke foamed silicone insulation system to the Bambu Labs X1C, P1S, and now H2D platforms.
There are now over 370 HPPS units deployed worldwide — across seven continents, including two units operating at the bottom of the world.
HPPS 2.0 represents our next-generation material formulation — a new foamed silicone variant that delivers improved thermal performance, efficiency, and durability compared to HPPS 1.0, while retaining the ruggedness and safety users expect.
Energy Efficiency
For the H2D, HPPS 2.0 reduces overall system power consumption by ~25% in typical 25 °C ambient environments, and by 35–45% in colder spaces (15–10 °C), such as workshops, garages, or sheds.
Just as importantly, this reduction directly lowers the amount of waste heat emitted into the surrounding room — improving comfort and reducing HVAC load in multi-printer environments.

Fire Safety
HPPS panels are exceptionally resistant to ignition in normal atmospheric conditions — an extremely rare property for insulating, foam-based materials. This performance is achieved through their high–platinum-catalyzed foamed silicone composition, which maintains stability even under sustained heat.
In the event of a localized failure or electrical fault, the foamed silicone serves as an effective fire-spread barrier, adding a critical layer of passive protection to your printer's environment.
Temperature Performance & Uniformity
HPPS 2.0 maintains stable and uniform internal chamber temperatures without overheating critical components.
Its revised foamed silicone matrix was developed through thermal time-lapse analysis, ensuring consistent heat retention while allowing safe dissipation at 65–70 °C+ chamber temps.
Quality of Life, Safety & Workspace Comfort
One of the most noticeable benefits of HPPS 2.0 is the dramatic improvement in comfort when working near your printer. With the foamed silicone panels installed, operating an H2D no longer feels like standing next to an oven — even during extended high-temperature or heated-chamber operation.
The insulation prevents heat from radiating outward, keeping the printer’s exterior surfaces and surrounding air much cooler. This makes it far more comfortable to work or sit near the machine, especially in offices, studios, or enclosed workspaces. Users have reported a significant reduction in room heating, which both improves daily comfort and reduces air-conditioning workload. In multi-printer setups, the difference is immediate — less noise, less heat, and a more stable working climate.
Beyond comfort, HPPS 2.0 also provides physical protection for the printer’s top and front glass panels. In the event of accidental impact or failure, the foamed silicone layer has been shown — multiple times in customer use — to contain and hold fractured glass in place, preventing it from scattering and reducing workplace injury risk. For professional users, this adds a valuable layer of passive safety that complements HPPS’s thermal and fire-resistant properties.
Cold-Environment Operation
HPPS 2.0 allows reliable, continuous printing of high-temperature materials (ABS, ASA, PC, Nylon, PET, PPSU) even in unheated or semi-outdoor environments — down to 5 °C ambient.
Warm-Up Speed
By improving thermal efficiency, HPPS 2.0 can reduce chamber warm-up times by roughly half, helping the printer reach stable operating temperature faster and consume less total power per print cycle. (Depending on ambient temperature.)
Take your Bambu Labs printer to the next level with HPPS 2.0: safer, stronger, and more efficient than ever. HPPS is the professional standard.
